Inositol belongs to the vitamins B class. It is a widely distributed natural constituent of plant and animal tissues. Inositol was thought for a time to be a vitamin because experimental animals on a synthetic diet developed clinical signs that were corrected by inositol supplementation.

We herein evaluated the stability of the bioactive marker bornesitol submitted to forced degradation conditions. This is the first report on bornesitol stability under different stress conditions and the obtained data are relevant for the development and quality control of standardized products from H. speciosa leaves.
Inositols have long been debated as a potential alternative for metformin in treating PCOS. Inositol is an effective and safe treatment in PCOS. Moreover, inositols showed non-inferiority in most outcomes compared to the gold standard treatment; metformin.
